San Francisco–based artist Rose D’Amato addresses her newly commissioned Art Wall and how it engages with painting practices such as hand lettering and pinstriping that speak to working-class and Latinx visual cultures. In conversation with Claire Frost, former BAMPFA Curatorial Associate, D’Amato explores how, in the expansive graphic design of the Art Wall, her use of abstraction blurs the distinction between the machine made and the handmade.
